My Hands on You

My Hands On You is the work of Irish ceramist Pádraig Naughton, previously Artist in Residence at the Richard Attenborough Centre for Disability and the Arts. Naughton studied Craft Design at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin from 1989-1993. Since graduating, he has exhibited in Ireland and Belgium and travelled to Japan to participate in touch-art projects in schools and galleries.

Pádraig Naughton has developed a tactile art, which enables him to synthesize his artistic expression with his visual impairment. In this exhibition, he will be showing his large ceramic work. My Hands on You, and accompanying drawings, as well as new experimental tactile works in boxes, which cannot be seen but only handled.

"My ability to reproduce in my mind's-eye a visual image at the people 1 have met know, love and respect, is weak. For me the images are feeling both physical and emotional, that are strongest in their tactile qualities and in voice".
